2. Registration opens for Semester I 2023-24 for Online – MPH students at 9:00 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
3. The last day for payment of charges is Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
4. Graduate School All-Student Orientation begins on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
5. Brown move-in day 2023 is on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
6. Brown University orientation is on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
7. Registration of new undergraduate and all graduate students for the fall semester begins at 4:00 pm EDT on Friday, September 1, 2023, and ends at midnight EDT on Monday, September 4, 2023. Maximum of 4 credit hours allowed for undergraduates.
8. Registration re-opens at 9:00 am EDT on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 for all students for the fall semester. Up to a maximum of 5 credit hours is allowed.

14. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is Monday, October 9, 2023. Brown Univerisity Holidays 2023, No University exercises.
15. The last day to receive any partial tuition refund is Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
16. Friday, October 20, 2023 is the last day to change from credit to audit in a course (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline).

18. Students on serious warning who wish to drop a course after Tuesday, November 14, 2023 must meet with an academic dean for advising and to obtain a “drop code.”

23. Tuesday, December 13 2022 is the last day for approved 7th (or penultimate) semester undergraduates in eligible concentrations to submit writing completed in the concentration in ASK to complete part II of the writing requirement. 
24. The final examination period (including Sunday) is from Wednesday, December 13, 2023 to Wednesday, December 21, 2023.

Brown academic calendar Spring 2023

These are the essential dates and deadlines in the Brown academic calendar for Spring 2023.

1. Saturday, October 1 2022 is the deadline for undergraduates on personal leave (including employment and military leave) or on Full-time Study Away status to request return to studies at Brown University for Spring 2023.
2. Advising period for spring pre-registration begins on Monday, October 24 2022. Students in their first through third semesters will need to procure their advising PIN from their advisor in order to register.
3. Registration opens for Semester II, 2022-2023 on Monday, November 7 2022 for undergraduate students semester level 07 and above and all continuing graduate students at noon EST. Registration will close from midnight Tuesday, November 8 until midnight Wednesday, November 9 then remain open until.
4. Registration opens for Semester II, 2022-23 for undergraduate students semester levels 05-06 on Wednesday, November 9 2022 at noon EST. Students are unable to register for 5th semester unless approved concentration is filed. Registration remains open until Tuesday, November 15, 5:00.
5. Registration opens for Semester II, 2022-23 for undergraduate students semester levels 03-04 on Thursday, November 10 2022 at noon EST. Registration remains open until Tuesday, November 15, 5:00 p.m. EST. Maximum of 4 credit hours allowed for undergraduates.
6. Registration opens for Semester II, 2022-23 for undergraduate students semester levels 01-02 on Friday, November 11 2022 at noon EST. Registration remains open until Tuesday, November 15, 5:00 p.m. EST. Maximum of 4 credit hours allowed for undergraduates.
7. Friday, November 11 2022 is the deadline for submission of proposals for College Curriculum Council-approved undergraduate group study projects (GISPs), independent study projects, and internships for credit) for Semester II on the Brown academic calendar.

22. Students on serious warning who wish to drop a course after Tuesday, April 11 2023 must meet with an academic dean for advising and to obtain a “drop code.”
23. Tuesday, April 25 2023 is the deadline for seniors in their penultimate (usually 7th) semester to file a second or third concentration via ASK (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline). *Any declarations not “advisor approved” and recorded in Banner by the advisor approval deadline will not be honored.
24. Reading Period begins on Friday, April 28 2023 and will end on May 10 2023. This is optional and at the discretion of the instructor.
25. Classes end for courses not observing the Reading Period on Tuesday, May 9 2023. Tuesday, May 9 2023 is the last day to drop a course (5:00 p.m. EDT deadline) or to request an incomplete from an instructor.
26. Tuesday, May 9 2023 is the last day for students in their ante-penultimate (typically 6th) semester to declare an undergraduate certificate in ASK on the Brown academic calendar.
27. Final Examination Period is Wednesday, May 10 2023 to Friday, May 19 2023. There are no exams on Sunday May 14.
28. Commencement is on Sunday, May 28 2023.
