The MyNova portal allows you to access many of Virginia Community College System (VCCS) applications such as email, Novaconnect, Blackboard, Canvas, and much more without having to log into those applications separately.

How to log into myNOVA
To log in,
- Click on the myNOVA tab on the NOVA home page.
- Enter your Username.
- Enter your Password.
- Click Log In.
- The next page displays links to Canvas, Student Email and the Student Information System (a.k.a., NOVAConnect). Click on VCCS SIS: Student Information System to enter NOVAConnect.
- When you are finished, always remember to Sign Out to ensure the security and privacy of your account information.

If you do not remember your password, click “Forgot Password” to reset it. If you do not know your username, click “Forgot Username” for instructions on how to retrieve it.
If a student decides NOT to take a class or not ever attend a class, the student is responsible for going into their MyNOVA account in SIS and dropping that class before the “Last day to drop with a tuition refund or change to audit (census date)”.
How to find your username
NOVAConnect, the VCCS SIS: Student Information System; Canvas, the online course management system, and the student email system are administered by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). The same username and password are used to access each of them. If you do not know your Username follow the directions below.
- Click on the gold MyNOVA tab on the NOVA home page.
- Click the green MyNova button.
- When the new page appears. Click on Forgot Username link.
- In the first section enter your First Name, Last Name, and DOB(MMDDYY). In the second section, you can now choose to enter either your EMPLID or SSN. In the third section, you can now choose to enter any of the following: Faculty/Staff Email, Phone Number, and EMLID or SSN(If not already entered in the previous section)
- Click the Search button
- If the information you entered is correct and present in your SIS profile, your username will appear.
myNova password reset
These instructions will help you change your password for NOVAConnect, Student Email, and Canvas. The same username and password are used for all three services, so when you change the password for one, all three passwords will change.
How to change your password
- Click on the MyNOVA tab on the NOVA home page.
- Click on the Green MyNova button.
- Enter your Username and Password and click Log In.
- Click Account Details in the upper right of the window.
- Click the Change your Password button
- Enter a new password that meets the security standards found on the right side of the page:
- At least one UPPERCASE letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number (0-9)
- At least one special character (e.g.` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + { } [ ] – \ / ? : ‘ ,)
- Press the OK button.
How to reset your password
- Click on the myNOVA tab on the NOVA home page.
- When the new page appears. Click on Forgot Password link.
- Enter your MyNova username.
- Press the OK button.
- The system will prompt you to answer three of your security questions.
- Once each question is answered, press the OK button.
- You will be prompted to enter a new password, enter the one that meets the security standards found on the right side of the page.
- At least one UPPERCASE letter
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one number (0-9)
- At least one special character (e.g.` ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + { } [ ] – \ / ? : ‘ ,)
- Press the OK button.
What is NOVAConnect?
NOVAConnect is NOVA’s Student Information Systems (SIS) central source for accessing all your essential student information at your convenience.
NOVAConnect also allows you to handle various tasks from searching for classes, registration, online applications, dropping/swapping courses, making payments, and managing your personal information through the Student Center.
To access NOVAConnect, the Student Information System (SIS), click on myNOVA > Log In > click on VCCS SIS: Student Information System > click on Student Center.
How to drop a class
You may not use NOVAConnect to withdraw from a course after the first 60% of the session since that action would result in you automatically receiving a grade of F.
You use the same process to withdraw from a course as you do to drop a course.
- Log in to NOVAConnect by clicking myNOVA on the NOVA home page.
- Click VCCS SIS: Student Information System.
- Click Self Service.
- Click Student Center.
- Under the Academics section click Enroll.
- Click Drop a Class.
- Place a checkmark next to the class you wish to drop.
- Click the Drop Selected Classes button.
How to view your class schedule
- Log in to NOVAConnect by clicking myNOVA on the NOVA home page.
- Click VCCS SIS: Student Information System.
- Click Self Service.
- Click Class Schedule from the drop-down under Academics.
- Click Go.
- Your Class Schedule is displayed.
How to find an online class
- Log in to NOVAConnect by clicking myNOVA on the NOVA home page.
- Click SIS: Student Information System.
- Click Self Service.
- Click Student Center.
- Click Enroll in the Academics section.
- If necessary, choose a term from the Select Term menu.
- Select Search for Classes and click Search. (If you know the 5-digit number from the Schedule of Classes, you can enter it and skip to #15.)
- Important: Click on the green Additional Search Criteria button to see more search fields.
- Find the Location drop-down menu.
- Choose Online from the Location drop-down menu.
- Enter the rest of your search criteria and click Search again.
- Choose VIEW ALL SECTIONS in the blue bar when the list of classes appears.
- Find the class you want and click the Select Class button. (Note: If you access the Class Search without going through Add a Class, you will not see the Select Class button.)
- Click Next.
- The class will be added to your Shopping Cart, but the class HAS NOT BEEN ADDED YET. If you would like to add another class, perform another search and add the additional class to your Shopping Cart. If you are finished adding classes, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3.
- Confirm that you are adding the correct class and click Finish Enrolling.
- If you are successful, you will see a green check on the next page. If you encounter errors, click Fix Errors to find out what went wrong.
- To make a payment, go to Student Center: Finances.
- Choose, My Acct and Account Inquiry.
- Then choose the green Make Payment button.
How to view financial aid ineligible classes
- Log in to NOVAConnect by clicking on myNOVA on the NOVA home page: www.nvcc.edu
- Click on SIS: Student Information System.
- Click on My Student Information.
- Scroll down to the Finances tab and click on View Financial Aid.
- Click on the desired aid year to view your financial aid awards
- Scroll down to the involved Term and click on the View Course Eligibility link.
- The FA Course Eligibility page displays
- Eligible courses will be marked.
- Ineligible courses will be crossed.
- Courses that have not yet been evaluated by the Financial Aid Course Audit process (which is generally run nightly) will be marked with (?).

How do I enroll in a class?
To enroll in classes, log in to myNOVA, select VCCS SIS: Student Information System, and in Self-Service select Student Center and My Academics and then click the Enroll tab.
What is a Nova Emplid?
The emplid is a unique number that identifies each student in the Student Information System (SIS). It may also be referred to as a student ID number.
How do I pay for my Nova class?
Tuition is payable online by e-check with no fees or by credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) through VCCS SIS: Student Information System in myNOVA. Credit/debit card payments are assessed a service fee by Nelnet Business Solutions. When you are ready to make a payment go to QuickPAY.
How do I get my Nova student ID?
You can click the Find My ID button to be sure that your NOVA Student ID is available. If you still cannot log on using the Student ID you found, you should contact the IT Help Desk, and we will be glad to assist you.
Can I change my PIN#?
Yes, you can. You will be automatically asked to change your default password the first time you use NOVAConnect successfully. Whenever you want to change your password after the initial time, click on the Find My ID button on the NOVAConnect website. Enter your user name and password. If you do not know your user name, you can use the Look Up feature. Click Login. Change your password is an option.
Will a partial payment hold my credit classes?
Partial payments do not hold your credit classes. Check the Tuition and Fees site for payment deadlines. Telephone payments are no longer accepted. All credit card payments are made online through NOVAConnect and QuikPay.
Can I request an official transcript through NOVAConnect Web?
If you have attended NOVA within the last three years, you may request transcripts through NOVAConnect; otherwise, you must request transcripts through a campus Student Services Center in writing using the Request for Transcript form.
What should I do if I find multiple Student IDs under my name?
Usually, when you have more than one Student ID, you may have taken courses at another College. The College code for NOVA is NV280.
You can click the Find My ID button to be sure that your NOVA Student ID is available.
