NorthWestern academic calendar fall 2023

These are the important dates, events and schedules in the NorthWestern Academic Calendar for Fall 2023.

1. Fall 2023 quarter courses are viewable for students in CAESAR on Monday, May 8, 2023, for the following: Communication, Education, Engineering, Journalism, & Music Graduate Courses, Non-Degree, TGS, and undergraduate Courses.
2. Pre-Registration for Fall 2023 begins on Monday, May 15, 2023, and the main fall 2023 registration begins on Monday, May 22, 2023.
3. Change of Registration (Drop/Add)/Late registration for returning students begins on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
4. Northwestern Fall 2023 classes start on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. No Northwestern Monday in Fall.
5. The last day for tuition adjustment related to enrollment changes (to or from full-time) is Monday, September 25, 2023. No reductions are made to bills for dropped or swapped classes after this date.
6. The last day to add a class or change a section for Fall 2023 is Monday, September 25, 2023.
7. Application for the degree is due to The Graduate School to receive a degree in Fall Quarter on Friday, October 20, 2023.
8. The last day to drop a class for Fall in CAESAR is Friday, October 27, 2023. Any requests after this date result in a W on the transcript and must go through the course withdrawal process. 
9. The last day for undergraduate or TGS students to change grading status to or from P/N for Fall classes, where allowed is Friday, November 10, 2023.
10. Dissertation, Ph.D. Final Exam and change of grade forms are due to TGS for Fall Ph.D. candidates on Friday, November 17, 2023.
11. Northwestern Thanksgiving break 2023 begins on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, by 6 pm to Sunday, November 26, 2023.
12. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
13. WCAS Reading period begins on Monday, November 27, 2023.
14. Master’s completion form is due for TGS Fall master’s candidates on Friday, December 1, 2023.
15. WCAS Reading Period ends on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
16. Fall examinations begin from Monday, December 4, 2023, to Saturday, December 9, 2023.
17. Fall 2023 Grades are due on Monday, December 11, 2023.
18. Fall Degrees are Conferred on Friday, December 15, 2023.
19. Northwestern Winter break 2023 is from Friday, December 22, 2023, to Friday, January 2, 2024. University is Closed.

NorthWestern academic calendar winter 2024

These are the important dates, events and schedules in the NorthWestern Academic Calendar for Winter 2024.

1. Registration for Winter 2024 begins on Monday, November 13, 2023.
2. Registration for Winter Quarter 2024 Opens for new TGS and Evanston Grad students on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.
3. Winter classes begin on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
4. The last day for tuition adjustment related to enrollment changes (to or from full-time) is Tuesday, January 9, 2024. No reductions are made to bills for dropped or swapped classes after this date.
5. Tuesday, January 9, 2024, is also the last day to add a class or change a section for the Winter term.
6. The university observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 15, 2024, and will be closed.
7. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, is the last day to drop a five-week course ending in week 5 of the Winter term (5W1).
8. To receive a degree in the Winter Quarter, the application must be submitted to The Graduate School by Friday, January 26, 2024.
9. Friday, January 26, 2024, is also the last day to withdraw from a five-week course ending in week 5 of the Winter term (5W1) at 5:00 pm.
10. The last day to drop a five-week course ending in week 10 of the Winter term (5W2) is Monday, February 27, 2024.
11. The term withdrawal and full-term course withdrawal petition deadline for Winter is Friday, March 1, 2024, at 5:00 pm.
12. Winter classes end on Saturday, March 9, 2024, and Winter examinations begin on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
13. Winter degrees are conferred on Friday, March 22, 2024.

These are the important dates, events and schedules in the NorthWestern Academic Calendar for Spring 2024.

1. Pre-Registration for Spring 2024 begins on Monday, February 12, 2024.
2. Registration for Spring 2024 begins on Monday, February 19, 2024.
3. Northwestern Spring Break 2024 begins on Saturday, March 16, 2024, and ends on Monday, March 25, 2024.
4. Registration for Spring Quarter Opens for new TGS and Evanston Grad students on Thursday, March 21, 2024.
5. Spring Change of Registration (Drop/Add)/Late registration begins on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
6. Spring 2024 classes start, including Northwestern Monday classes, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
7. The last day for tuition adjustment related to enrollment changes (to or from full-time) for Spring is Monday, April 1, 2024. No reductions are made to bills for dropped or swapped classes after this date.
8. Monday, April 1, 2024, is also the last day to add a class or change a section for Spring, and summer courses become viewable in CAESAR.
9. The last day to drop a five-week course ending in week 5 of the Spring term (5W1) is Monday, April 15, 2024.
10. Friday, April 19, 2024, is the last day to withdraw from a five-week course ending in week 5 of the Spring term (5W1) at 5:00 pm.
11. The last day to drop a five-week course ending in week 10 of the Spring term (5W2) is Monday, May 20, 2024.
12. Registration for Fall 2024 begins on Monday, May 20, 2024, according to Northeastern academic calendar 2024-2025.
13. Friday, May 24, 2024, is the last day to withdraw from a five-week course ending in week 10 of the Spring term (5W2) at 5:00 pm, and it is also the term withdrawal and full-term course withdrawal petition deadline for Spring.
14. The university observes Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024, and there are no classes.
15. Spring classes end on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
16. Spring examinations start on Monday, June 3, 2024, and end on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
17. Graduation Weekend takes place from Saturday, June 8, 2024, through Monday, June 10, 2024.
18. The Spring 2024 grading deadline is on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
19. Registration for the Summer Quarter opens for new TGS and Evanston Grad students on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
20. Spring degrees are conferred on Friday, June 14, 2024.
