The StFX academic calendar 2024 has exam schedule, holiays, reading week dates, other important dates, and deadlines. St. Francis Xavier University is on a semester system made of fall, winter/spring, and winter.
StFX courses are three credits for a one-semester course and
six credits for a full-year (two-semester) course.
A student’s full-time/part-time status is based on the number of credits in which they are registered for the full academic year (September – April) and is usually defined as 60% of a normal full course load.
For undergraduate programs at StFX, full-time status is 18 credits (60% of a normal full course load of 30 credits).
Only students carrying at least 24 credits are considered for entrance and in-course scholarships. A minimum of 24 credits is also required to be considered for the Dean’s List at year-end.
To assess tuition and other fees, enrollment in 24 or more credits is considered a full-time student.
StFX academic calendar winter 2024
Below are the important dates and deadlines on the StFX academic calendar for winter 2024.
- Wednesday, January 3, 2024, marks the reopening of the university, and professors are required to submit term grades by 9:00 a.m.
- The second-term classes begin on Monday, January 8, 2024.
- Monday, January 15, 2024, is the last day to add second-term courses or to drop full-year courses and request to audit courses, with the reminder that the student account balance is due in full.
- The April exam schedule will be available on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, according to StFX academic calendar 2024.
- Another University Senate meeting is scheduled for Friday, February 9, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
- StFX Winter Reading Week (Study Break) 2024 begins on Monday, February 19, 2024, to Sunday, February 25, 2024. The beginning of the reading week coincides with Nova Scotia Heritage Day, resulting in the closure of offices. Classes will resume after the study break on Monday, February 26, 2024.
- The deadline for professors to submit Winter mid-term grades is Friday, March 1, 2024.
- Friday, March 8, 2024, is the last day to drop second-term three-credit courses, and there will be a University Senate meeting at 2:30 p.m.
- The formal academic advising period begins on Monday, March 11, 2024.
- For Spring Convocation, the final date for seniors to submit senior theses and graduate students to submit theses is Monday, March 18, 2024.
- On Thursday, March 21, 2024, there will be a Student Research Day scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., according to StFX academic calendar 2024.
- Friday, March 22, 2024, serves as the final date for BA and B.Sc. first-year students to declare majors, BBA second-year students to declare majors and apply for honors and advanced major programs, and all other second-year students to apply for honors and advanced major programs.
- There will be no classes, and offices will be closed due to Good Friday on Friday, March 29, 2024.
- Another University Senate meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 5, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
- Monday, April 8, 2024, marks the last day of classes for the second term, except Friday classes, which will still be held.
- Examinations will begin on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, to Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
- If necessary, there will be a University Senate meeting scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
- Professors must submit final grades for graduation candidates by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, according to StFX academic calendar 2024.
- The Spring Convocation list will be published on Friday, May 3, 2024.
- The StFX Spring 2024 Convocation takes place on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
- Professors must submit final grades for continuing students by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024.
- Wednesday, May 15, 2024, is the due date for Spring course fees for student accounts.
- On Monday, May 20, 2024, offices will be closed in observance of Victoria Day.
