TopperMail is the email account for students of Western Kentucky University. It features a robust email client with an integrated calendar, a number of versatile collaboration tools, and much more.
Your TopperMail Email Address or username is in the form of first.last123@topper.wku.edu.
As a WKU student, you are issued a TopperMail email account within 24-48 hours after your initial course registration. You do not get a WKU email account upon admission to the University, you must register for classes first.

How to log into toppermail
To access or check your wku toppermail webmail;
- Go to wku.edu/its/webmail.
- Select your account.
- Enter in your full WKU email address.
- Enter in your WKU email password.
- Click Sign In.

All TopperMail Account holders will be assigned a “Windows Live ID” which is really the same as their TopperMail email address. You can access your email using your TopperMail email address (aka Windows Live ID) using WKU Webmail.
Beginning in 2021, student email accounts are set to be federated. It means that the password for your student email will be synced with the NetID password. Students can log in with their email address as username; however, the password could change to be identical to your NetID password. If you’re not able to access your account with your student email password, you should test using your NetID password too.
How to find your email address
To figure out your wku toppermail address,
- Go to wku.edu/it/accounts/manage.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Note: If you do not have a Social Security Number, you may try to use the last 4 digits of your WKUID.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been set up, you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Your email address will be displayed.
How to reset your email password
To reset your toppermail password,
- Go here.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. If you do not have a Social Security Number use the last 4 digits of your WKUID.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been setup you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Click Reset TopperMail Password.
- Enter a new password.
- Click Change Password.

Differences in WKU accounts
There are 3 types of accounts at Western Kentucky University. They are NetID, WKUID, and Toppermail. What is the difference between these types of accounts at WKU?

WKU NetID
The NetID is used for logging into Active Directory, WKU Blackboard, TopNet, myWKU, and many other various WKU Systems. It is accompanied by a NetID Password which is separate from all other accounts at WKU.
NetIDs are created once a user has a WKU ID.
How to find your WKU netID
- Go to wku account manager page…wku.edu/it/accounts/manage/.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. If you do not have a Social Security Number use the last 4 digits of your WKUID.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been setup you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Your NetID will display in the NetID box.
How to reset your netID password
- Navigate wku.edu/it/accounts/manage/.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. If you do not have a Social Security Number use the last 4 digits of your WKUID.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been setup you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Click Reset NetID Password.
- Enter a new password.
- Click Change Password.
WKUID
The WKUID is normally used for logging into TopNet and has its own six-digit WKU ID PIN. It may also be used for logging into an admissions application for a student that has already been accepted to WKU.
WKUIDs are created for students once their application has been reviewed by the Admissions office. WKUIDs are also created for employees and affiliates once Human Resources has created an entry in Banner for the person.
How to find your WKUID
- Navigate to the WKU accounts page.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. If you do not have a Social Security Number use the last 4 digits of your WKUID.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been setup you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Your WKUID will display in the WKUID box.
How to reset your WKUID PIN
- Go the WKU account page.
- Enter your last name, birth date, and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
- Click Next.
- If a security question and answer have already been setup you will be prompted to enter the answer. If a security question has not been setup, you will be prompted to create one.
- Click Submit Security Answer.
- Click Reset PIN.
- Enter a new PIN.
- Click Set WKUID PIN.
WKU toppermail address
TopperMail accounts are created once a student registers for a course.
The TopperMail Address is used for accessing student email. New TopperMail accounts are generally formatted as follows: first.last123@topper.wku.edu.
The password for this account is synced with your NetID Password.
How to add toppermail to your android device
To add your TopperMail account to your mobile device,
- Open the Application Launcher.
- Select Email.
- Enter your full email address (e.g. big.red123@topper.wku.edu) and your TopperMail password, if asked, then select Sign In.
- If asked to to sign in to an Internet Account, select Continue.
- Enter in the information requested. You may need to type in your full email address and password.
- Authenticate using Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication, if prompted.
- Select OK when prompted about Remote security administration.
- Name the account as desired.
- Select Activate at the device administration prompt to complete the setup.
How to add topperMail or exchange account on android gmail
- Open the Gmail application.
- Choose Add account.
- Select Exchange and Microsoft 365. If you do not see this option, you may have to update your Gmail app from the Google Play Store.
- Enter in your account information as prompted.
- Authenticate with Multi-Factor Authentication if prompted.
- Save the changes.
How to install microsoft 365 to your android device
- ap the Play Store.
- Tap the Search bar.
- Search for Microsoft 365.
- Tap Microsoft Office Mobile.
- Tap Install.
- Tap Accept for Use Terms.
- Tap Open.
- Tap Sign in.
- Type in your WKU email address.
- Tap Next.
- Tap Work account.
- Tap the text box and type in your WKU email address.
- Enter your email password if you are a student, or enter your NetID password if you are a Faculty / Staff member.
- If prompted by an additional security measure type in your WKU email address.
- Type in the security code that was sent to your WKU email account.
- Tap Next.
- Choose whether to connect your Office Mobile to Dropbox.
- Tap the arrow button.
How to install microsoft 365 on your iphone
- Tap the App Store.
- Tap Search.
- Search for Microsoft 365.
- Tap the app you wish to download.
- Tap Get.
- Tap Install.
- If prompted type in your Apple ID password and click OK.
- Tap Open.
- Swipe to the left to get through the pictures.
- Tap Sign In.
- Tap the text box and type in your WKU email address.
- Tap Next.
- Choose the Work account.
- Enter your WKU email address and password.
- Tap Sign in.
- Tap the Create and Edit Documents button.
