UConn Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

Check out UConn academic calendar for important dates and deadlines for the semester. The University of Connecticut is on a semester system, and semester systems are typically around 14-16 weeks long.

All students must earn at least 120 credits to graduate from the University of Connecticut. To graduate in eight semesters, students must take an average of 15 credits per semester.

UConn academic calendar fall 2023

Here are important dates, schedules, and deadlines on the UConn academic calendar for fall 2023.

1. Registration for the Fall 2023 semester via Student Administration System begins on Mon, March 20, 2023.
2. UConn move-in day fall 2023 for freshmen students is Friday, August 25, 2023 from 8:00am – 4:00pm.
3. All campus change, transfers, and continuing student move-in day is from Saturday, August 26 to Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. students can only bring one car to campus for move-in! Bring your UConn ID, photo ID, and student ID (PeopleSoft) with you. Residential Life will need this information to distribute keys and other check-in materials.
4. UConn Fall 2023 semester classes start on Monday, August 28, 2023. The first day of fall 2023. Learn more about UConn HuskyCT.
5. Labor day holiday is Monday, September 4, 2023. There are no classes.
6. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 is the last day to file petitions for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
7. Courses dropped after Monday, September 11, 2023 will have a “W” for withdrawal recorded on the academic record. It is the last day to add or drop courses without additional signatures (see Adding and Dropping Courses).
8. Monday, September 18, 2023 is the last day for students to make up Incomplete or Absence grades (Undergraduate students only) according to UConn academic calendar 2023-2024.
9. Tuesday, September 19, 2023 to Monday, September 25, 2023 is examinations for course credit by examination (Undergraduate students only).
10. Friday, September 22, 2023 is the deadline to apply for graduation and submit Final Plan of Study (Undergraduate, Master’s, 6th year, and graduate certificate students only) for a Fall 2023 degree conferral.
11. Dean’s signature is required to add courses on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 on the UConn academic calendar.
12. Mid-semester progress reports are due to students from faculty on Friday, October 6, 2023.
13. Monday, November 13, 2023 is the last day to withdraw from a course.
14. The last day to place courses on or remove from Pass/Fail grading (Undergraduate students only) is Monday, November 13, 2023.
15. UConn Thanksgiving break 2023 is from Sunday, November 19, 2023 to Saturday, November 25, 2023. The University of Connecticut Thanksging break is one week long. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
16. Friday, December 1, 2023 is the last day for Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates to upload their final thesis and dissertation to Submittable and submit related paperwork to Degree Audit (degreeaudit@uconn.edu) for conferral of a Fall 2022 degree. It is recommended that students defend at least two weeks before this deadline to allow for revisions. Doctoral dissertation defense must be announced two weeks before defending. Plan A master’s students are not required to announce their defense.
17. The last day of fall 2023 semester classes is Friday, December 8, 2023.
18. Reading Days are Saturday, December 9, 2023 to Sunday, December 10, 2023.
19. UConn fall 2023 final examinations begin on Monday, December 11, 2023, and end on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
20. Thursday, December 14, 2023 is also a Reading Day.
21. Conferral date for Fall 2023 degrees is Sunday, December 17, 2023. Final examinations for Plan B master’s students must be completed by this date according to UConn academic calendar 2023-2024.
22. UCONN Winter break 2023 is from Monday, December 18, 2023 to Monday, January 15, 2024.
23. UConn Fall 2023 Semester grades are due at 4 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
24. Friday, December 29, 2023 is the last day for Degree Audit (degreeaudit@uconn.edu) to receive the approved Plan B master’s Report on the Final Exam form (Graduate students only).

UConn academic calendar spring 2024

Here are important dates, schedules, and deadlines on the UConn academic calendar for spring 2024.

1. Spring semester begins at Duke on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 (8:30 AM), following the Monday class schedule. Drop/Add continues on this day.
2. Regular class meeting schedules begin on Thursday, January 11, 2024, and the Thursday class schedule is followed.
3. Classes meeting in a Wednesday/Friday meeting pattern begin on Friday, January 12, 2024.
4. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday is observed on Monday, January 15, 2024, with no classes held.
5. Drop/Add period ends on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:59 PM.
6. The last day for reporting midsemester grades is on Friday, February 23, 2024.
7. Duke Spring Break 2024 is from Friday, March 8, 2024, at 7:00 PM, to Sunday, March 17, 2024. Classes resume after spring recess on Monday, March 18, 2024 (8:30 AM).
8. Shopping carts open for Fall 2024 on Monday, March 25, 2024.
9. The last day to withdraw with a W from Spring 2024 classes (undergraduates only) is Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
10. Registration for Fall 2024 begins on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, while Summer 2024 registration continues, according to the Duke academic calendar 2024-2025.
11. Registration ends for Fall 2024 on Thursday, April 11, 2024; Summer 2024 registration continues.
12. Drop/Add period begins for Fall 2024 on Friday, April 12, 2024.
13. Graduate classes 700+ end, and some graduate classes 500-699 may end at department/instructor discretion on Thursday, April 17, 2024.
14. A graduate reading period is observed from Thursday, April 18, to Sunday, April 28, 2024.
15. Undergraduate classes end on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, and the remaining graduate classes 500-699 end.
16. An undergraduate reading period takes place from Thursday, April 25, to Sunday, April 28, 2024.
17. Spring 2024 Final examinations begin on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 9:00 AM to Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 PM.
18. Duke Graduation and Commencement is on Friday, May 10, 2024. Graduation exercises and conferring of degrees take place on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
