UIUC Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

Here is a detailed schedule for the dates and deadlines on the UIUC academic calendar 2023-2024 for Fall, Spring and Summer semester. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is on a semester system. A full semester at UIUC is 16 week long.

UIUC academic calendar fall 2023

1. Fall 2023 Priority registration begins for Fall 2023 for eligible continuing and returning students on April 3, 2023.
2. Open registration begins for Fall 2023 for all except non-degree students on April 20, 2023.
3. Open registration begins for Fall 2023 for non-degree students on July 17, 2023.
4. Fall advanced registration verification is available from NSC via UIUC Student Self-Service under Registration & Records/Enrollment Verification on July 26, 2023. Check out UIUC Moodle.
5. UIUC move in day fall 2023 is from August 13, 2023 to August 20, 2023.
6. Fall tuition and fee charges first appear on student accounts on August 14, 2023.
7. August 18, 2023 to September 29, 2023 is Health Insurance Change/Waiver Period on the UIUC academic calendar.
8. August 20, 2023 is the deadline to cancel registration (drop all classes) for full reversal of tuition and campus fees for classes scheduled in a regular semester. The deadline to cancel non-standard course offerings is the last day before instruction.
9. UIUC fall 2023 semester classes start on August 21, 2023. It is the first day of classes for the Fall 2023 semester and POT A courses. Check out UIUC CS173.
10. August 21, 2023 is the deadline for students to register for first classes without being charged a $15 late fee penalty.
11. Late registration begins via Student Self-Service on August 22, 2023.
12. The deadline for ALL students to add a POT A course via Student Self-Service is August 25, 2023.
13. August 25, 2023 is the deadline for ALL students to drop POT A (1st 8 week) course for refund if reducing the assessment range.
14. The deadline to suppress directory information is August 25, 2023.
15. September 1, 2023 is the “10th day” add/drop deadline on the UIUC academic calendar.
16. The deadline to drop or reduce semester hours and receive refund if reducing assessment range for ALL students is September 1, 2023.
17. September 1, 2023 is the deadline for Undergraduates to add a semester course via Student Self-Service.
18. The deadline for GRAD to add a semester course via Student Self-Service without approval is September 1, 2023.
19. September 2, 2023 is the Official fall enrollment information transmitted to NSC for processing to NSLDS to provide loan deferment if applicable. Notification to federal loan providers should occur within 2 – 3 weeks according to UIUC academic calendar.
20. Labor Day holiday (all-campus holiday) is September 4, 2023.
21. According to the UIUC academic calendar, September 15, 2023 is the;
    • Deadline for UG to drop POT A (1st 8 weeks) course via Student Self-Service without a grade of W. Students may contact their college office to request an exception by petitioning the drop deadline in the case of extraordinary circumstances.
    • Deadline for UG to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in POT A course.
    • The deadline for UG to file an intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in the POT A course.
    • Deadline for GRAD to drop POT A course via Student Self-Service.
22. Full payment is due on September 28, 2023 for Fall 2023 charges unless on a payment plan. Visit UIUC Pay My Bill for more information regarding payment options and due dates according to UIUC academic calendar.
23. September 29, 2023 is the deadline for GRAD to drop a POT A course without a grade of W.
24. The deadline for GRAD to elect credit/no credit for a POT A course or to change credit/no credit to a regular grade is September 29, 2023.
25. UIUC Fall 2023 Final exam schedule is available to view on Course Explorer in October 2023.
26. On the UIUC academic calendar, October 13, 2023 is the;
    • Deadline for UG to drop semester course via Student Self-Service without grade of W. Students may contact their college office to request an exception by petition to the drop deadline in the case of extraordinary circumstances.
    • Deadline for UG to remove incomplete grade from previous semester to prevent change to F grade.
    • Deadline for UG to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in semester course.
    • The deadline for UG to file intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in semester course.
    • Deadline for UG to withdraw from Fall semester (drop all courses) without grade of W.
    • Deadline for LAW students to drop semester course without grade of W.
    • Deadline for GRAD to drop semester course via Student Self-Service.
27. October 20, 2023 is the deadline for UG to add POT B (2nd 8 week) course.
28. The deadline for GRAD to add POT B course via Student Self-Service is October 20, 2023. 
29. October 20, 2023 is the deadline for ALL students to drop POT B course for refund if reducing assessment range.
30. October 27, 2023 is the deadline to withdraw from the University if enrolled in POT 1 and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund.
31. According to the UIUC academic calendar, November 10, 2023 is the;
    • Deadline for UG to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in POT B course
    • The deadline for UG to file intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in the POT B course.
    • Deadline for GRAD to drop POT B course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline for GRAD to drop semester course without grade of W
    • Deadline for GRAD to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in semester course
    • The last day for GRAD students to withdraw from term without grade of W.
32. UIUC Thanksgiving break 2023 is from November 18, 2023 to November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
33. December 1, 2023 is the deadline for GRAD to drop POT B course without a grade of W.
34. The deadline for GRAD to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis for POT B course is December 1, 2023.
35. The last day of clases for Fall 2023 is December 6, 2023 according to the UIUC academic calendar 2023-2024.
36. Reading day (no classes, no final examinations) is December 7, 2023.
37. December 7, 2023 is the last day for GRAD to add/drop POT B course without petitioning Graduate College.
38. The last day for GRAD to add/drop semester course without petitioning Graduate College is December 7, 2023.
39. Final examination period is December 8, 2023 to December 15, 2023. Exams take place on Weekdays only. Weekends are out.
40. UIUC Winter break 2023 is from December 16, 2023, to January 15, 2024.
41. December 18, 2023 is Degree conferral date. Diplomas will be shipped in approximately 9 weeks.
42. Transcripts on hold for Fall 2023 grades are released in early January 2023 according to the UIUC academic calendar 2023-2024.
43. Transcripts on hold for Fall 2023 degrees are released in early January 2024.

UIUC academic calendar spring 2024

The UIUC Spring 2024 calendar has registration dates, spring break holidays, important dates, and deadlines. Check out the UIUC academic calendar for spring 2024 below.

1. The class schedule for the Spring 2024 semester becomes available on Course Explorer on October 2, 2023.
2. Time Tickets (earliest registration times) for Spring 2024 priority registration can be viewed on Student Self-Service starting from October 16, 2023. Open-time tickets will be assigned the following day.
3. Priority registration for Spring 2024 begins on October 30, 2023, for eligible continuing and returning students.
4. Open registration begins for new and all other students on November 16, 2023.
5. Spring tuition and fee charges first appear on student accounts on January 8, 2024.
6. The Health Insurance Change/Waiver Period is from January 12 to March 1, 2024.
7. The deadline to cancel registration (dropping all Spring 2024 classes) for a full reversal of tuition and campus fees for classes scheduled in a regular semester is 11:59 PM CST on January 15, 2024. For non-standard course offerings, the deadline to cancel is the last day before instruction.
8. The first day of classes for Spring 2024 POT 1 and POT A courses is January 16, 2024. The deadline for students to register for their first classes without being charged a $15 late fee penalty is also on this day.
9. Late registration begins via Student Self-Service on January 17, 2024, with a $15 late fee applying.
10. The deadline for undergraduate students to add a POT A course is January 22, 2024.
11. The “10th day” add/drop deadline is from January 29 to February 9, 2024.
12. The midterm grade entry for instructors is enabled on February 26, 2024.
13. The full payment for Spring 2024 charges is due on February 28, 2024.
14. The faculty deadline for reporting midterm grades for freshmen is March 5, 2024.
15. UIUC Spring Break 2024 is observed from Saturday, March 9 to Sunday, March 17, 2024. Classes resume on Monday, March 18, 2024.
16. Priority registration Time Tickets for Summer and Fall 2024 are available on Student Self-Service starting from March 18, 2024.
17. POT B courses begin, and the deadline for undergraduate students to add a POT B course is March 22, 2024.
18. The deadline to withdraw from the university and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund if enrolled mainly in full-semester classes is March 29, 2024, according to UIUC academic calendar 2023-2024.
19. Priority registration for Summer and Fall 2024 begins on April 1, 2024.
20. Final exams for POT A (first 8-week) courses are enabled for instructors in Faculty Self-Service on April 12, 2024.
21. The last day of classes for spring 2024 is May 1, 2024.
22. A reading day with no classes or final examinations is observed on May 2, 2024.
23. The Spring 2024 final examination period is scheduled from May 3 to 10, 2024.
24. Degree conferral and campus-wide commencement are on May 11, 2024, with diplomas shipped in approximately 9 weeks.
25. The faculty deadline for reporting grades is May 17, 2024, and students can view final grades the following day via Student Self-Service or myIllini.
26. Transcripts on hold for Spring 2024 grades will be released on May 28, 2024.
27. The faculty deadline for reporting LAW grades is on May 24, 2024.
28. The college deadline for reporting Academic Standing is on May 24, 2024.
29. The faculty deadline for reporting ZJUI grades is June 7, 2024, and transcripts on hold for Spring 2024 degrees are released on June 18, 2024.
