UNO Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

The UNO academic calendar 2023-2024 includes term and class schedules start and end dates, school holidays, add/drop dates, other important dates, and deadlines.

Typically, an academic year at the University of Nebraska Omaha consists of the fall and spring semesters, each consisting of approximately 15 weeks. There is also a Three-Week January session usually held in January.

The unit of instruction is the semester hour. A class hour at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is typically 50 minutes.

The last week of fall and spring semesters is designated as Final Examination Week, while the last week of regularly scheduled classes during fall and spring semesters is designated as Prep Week at UNOmaha.

1. UNomaha move-in day 2023 is from August 17, 2023 to August 19, 2023.
2. August 14, 2023 is the deadline for submitting an application for admission to an undergraduate college for Fall.
3. UNO Fall 2023 classes start on August 21, 2023. It is the first day of classes for UNOmaha students.
4. August 28, 2023 is the last day before 12 midnight to DROP a course via MavLINK and receive a 100% refund. To register for a course in the Fall Semester after this date, a student must have a permission number and register via MavLINK.
5. The last day to add a course as Audit with the half-price tuition rate for audit courses is August 28, 2023. Audits must be sent to the Office of the University Registrar, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.
6. Maverick Payment Plan Opens on August 28, 2023.
7. September 3, 2023 is the last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 75% refund.
8. Labor Day (Student & Staff Holiday) is September 4, 2023 according to UNO holiday schedule 2023 – University closed. Classes resume at 6 A.M on September 5, 2023.
9. September 10, 2023 is the last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 50% refund.
10. The last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 25% refund is September 17, 2023.
11. Fall Tuition and Fees are due on September 23, 2023.
12. September 23, 2023 is the last day to Sign Up for Maverick Payment Plan.
13. The last day for filing applications for degrees to be conferred in December is October 13, 2023.
14. UNO Fall break 2023 is from October 16, 2023 to October 17, 2023. No classes; UNO offices are open. Classes resume at 6 A.M on October 18, 2023 after the fall semester break.
15. Maverick Payment Plan Second Payment is Due on October 23, 2023, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.
16. November 3, 2023 is the last date before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W”
17. The last day to change a course to “Audit” (full tuition rate applies) is November 3, 2023.
18. November 3, 2023 is the last day in the Fall Semester to change to Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grading option in a course or to change from Credit/No Credit back to grade registration. It must be submitted online.
19. According to the UNO academic calendar 2023-2024, Maverick Payment Plan Third Payment is Due on November 23, 2023.
20. UNO Thanksgiving break 2023 is from November 22, 2023 to November 26, 2023. UNO offices are open only on November 23. Classes resume at 6 A.M on November 27, 2023 after the University of Nebraska Omaha Thanksgiving break.
21. UNO Prep Week 2023 is from December 4, 2023 to December 9, 2023.
22. December 9, 2023 is the last day of Fall 2023 semester classes.
23. UNO final exams 2023 is from December 10, 2023 to December 15, 2023.
24. UNO December Commencement or graduation 2023 is on December 15, 2023.
25. UNO winter break 2023 is from December 16, 2023 to January 21, 2024. The Holiday Closedown or Christmas break for 2023 will begin Friday, December 22, 2023 and conclude Monday, January 1, 2024. Staff will return to work Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
26. Maverick Payment Plan Fourth Payment is due on December 23, 2023, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.

UNO academic calendar January session 2024

The three-week January session allows students to have more experiential learning. These are internships and study abroad opportunities and help UNO students catch up or get ahead in their general education classes or retake a course and take courses outside of their major studies – take classes they find interesting, but may not fulfil their degree requirements.

The Three-Week January session will be held between January 2 and January 20, 2024. Most courses are taught online, while others focus on experiential learning.

2. The last day before 12 midnight to DROP a course via MavLINK and receive a 100% refund is January 4, 2024. To register for a course in the 3-Week January Session after this date, a student must have a permission number and register via MavLINK.
3. January 5, 2024 is the last day before 12:00 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 50% refund
4. The last day before 12:00 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 25% refund is January 8, 2024, according to UNO academic calendar 2024.
5. January 15, 2024 is the last date before 12:00 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W”.
6. Martin Luther King Day (Student & Staff Holiday) is Monday, January 15, 2024. The University of Nebraska Omaha is closed, no classes. The 3-Week January Session classes resume at 6 A.M on January 16, 2024 after the holiday.
7. The last day of classes for UNO 3-Week January Session is January 19, 2024.

1. The deadline for submitting an application for admission to an undergraduate college for the spring 2024 semester is January 15, 2024.
2. UNO spring 2024 classes start on January 22, 2024.
3. The last day before 12 midnight to DROP a course via MavLINK and receive a 100% refund is January 29, 2024. To register for a course in the Spring Semester after this date, a student must have a permission number and register via MavLINK.
4. January 29, 2024 is also the last day to add a course as Audit with the half-price tuition rate for audit courses. Audits must be done in person at the Office of the University Registrar, 105 EAB.
5. Maverick Payment Plan Opens on January 30, 2024, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.
6. February 4, 2024 is the last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 75% refund.
7. The last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 50% refund is February 11, 2024.
8. February 18, 2024 is the last day before 12 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W” and receive a 25% refund.
9. Spring 2024 Tuition and Fees are Due on February 23, 2024.
10. February 23, 2024 is the last day to sign up for Maverick Payment Plan.
11. The last day for filing applications for degrees to be conferred in May is March 8, 2024.
12. UNO Spring break 2024 is from March 10, 2024 to March 17, 2024. UNO offices are open. Classes resume at 6 A.M on March 18, 2024 after UNOmaha Spring break holidays.
13. Maverick Payment Plan Second Payment is due on March 23, 2024, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.
14. April 5, 2024 is the last date before 12:00 midnight to withdraw via MavLINK from a course with a grade of “W”.
15. The last day to change a course to “Audit” (full tuition rate applies) is April 5, 2024.
16. April 5, 2024 is the last day in the Spring Semester to change to Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grading option in a course or to change from Credit/No Credit back to grade registration. CR/NC option must be sent to the Office of the University Registrar.
17. Maverick Payment Plan Third Payment is Due on April 23, 2024.
18. UNO Prep Week 2024 is from May 6, 2024 to May 11, 2024.
19. May 11, 2023 is the last day of classes for spring 2024 semester, according to UNO academic calendar 2023-2024.
20. UNO spring 2024 final exams is from May 11, 2024 to May 16, 2024.
21. UNO May Commencement and graduation 2024 is on May 17, 2024.
22. Maverick Payment Plan Fourth Payment is Due on May 23, 2024.
