The University of Rhode Island, URI academic calendar 2023-2024 has URI schedule, final exam schedule, URI holiday schedule, add/drop deadlines, and other important dates.

The University of Rhode Island (URI) uses the semester system, which divides the academic year into two main terms: fall semester and spring semester. The fall semester typically runs from September to mid-December, while the spring semester runs from late January to early May.

Each semester lasts approximately 15 weeks, and students typically take a set number of courses during each semester. Additionally, URI also offers a summer session, which consists of multiple shorter terms within the summer months, but these are not considered part of the main academic year.

URI academic calendar fall 2023

URI fall 2023 semester has 16 weeks of instruction. Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for fall 2023.

1. URI move-in day fall 2023 begins on Thursday, August 31, 2023 to Sunday, September 3, 2023, for freshmen and returning students. Each residence hall will have a designated move-in date, and students will select a move-in time in URI MyHousing to spread congestion. 
2. Advising day is September 5, 2023.
3. URI Fall classes start on September 6, 2023. Pro-rata billing period for all classes begins.
4. URI e-Campus Open Add Period is September 6, 2023 to September 12, 2023.
5. URI e-Campus Permission Number Late Add Period is September 13, 2023 to September 19, 2023.
6. September 19, 2023 is the last day to add the Pass/Fail Option.
7. Courses dropped on September 28, 2023, or after this date will have a “W” for Withdrawal recorded on the academic record (transcript).
8. Columbus Day is October 9, 2023. Classes do not meet, URI offices are closed.
9. October 18, 2023 is the last day for students to DROP courses in e-Campus (late drop form required after this date).
10. Mid-semester is October 20, 2023 on the URI academic calendar 2023-2024.
11. October 20, 2023 is the last day to CHANGE from Pass/Fail Option.
12. Freshmen Mid Term Grades and Mid Term Surveys are due in e-Campus by 12:00 pm on October 24, 2023.
13. Election Day is November 7, 2023. Classes meet, and offices are open.
14. Veteran’s Day is November 13, 2023. Classes do not meet, and offices are closed
15. URI Thanksgiving break 2023 is from November 23, 2023 to November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
16. The last day of Classes for fall 2023 is December 12, 2023.
17. Reading day is December 13, 2023.
18. Final Examination is from December 14, 2023 to December 15, 2023 and from December 18, to December 20, 2023.
19. December 21, 2023 is Final Exams Make-up Day. It is used only in the event of Official Snow Delay or Cancellation.
20. URI Winter Break 2023 is from December 21, 2023, to January 21, 2024.
21. Final grades are due in e-Campus by 12:00 pm on December 28, 2023.
22. The official date for December graduation is December 31, 2023. URI Fall 2023 graduation date.

Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for Winter J term 2024.

1. Winter J-Term Pre-registration begins on Monday, October 30, 2023.
2. Winter J Term 2024 classes start on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
3. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 is the last day to Add a class or Drop with a 100% refund.
4. The last day to Drop a class (50% refund) is Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
5. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday is Monday, January 15, 2024. Classes do not meet, and offices are closed.
6. The Last Day of Classes for Winter J Term 2024 is Friday, January 19, 2024.
7. Winter J Term 2023 final grades are due in e-Campus on Sunday, January 21, 2024 before the 1st day of Spring 2024 classes.

URI Spring 2024 semester has 15 weeks of instruction. Here are the important dates and deadlines on the URI academic calendar for Spring 2024.

1. Advising Day is scheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2024.
2. The last day to drop with a 100% refund is Saturday, January 21, 2024.
3. URI Spring 2024 classes start on Sunday, January 22, 2024.
4. The e-Campus Open Add Period is observed from Sunday, January 22, to Saturday, January 28, 2024.
5. The e-Campus Permission Number Late Add Period is from Sunday, January 29, to Saturday, February 4, 2024.
6. The last day to add the Pass/Fail Option is Sunday, February 4, 2024.
7. Courses dropped on or after Monday, February 13, 2024, will have a “W” for Withdrawal recorded on the academic record (transcript).
8. Presidents Day is observed on Monday, February 19, 2024. Classes do not meet, but offices are open. This day also serves as a snow emergency make-up day if needed.
9. Mid-semester is on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
10. URI Spring Break 2024 is scheduled from Sunday, March 10, to Saturday, March 16, 2024. Classes do not meet, but offices are open.
11. Freshmen Mid Term Grades and Mid Term Surveys are due in e-Campus by 12:00 PM on Monday, March 19, 2024.
12. The last day to change from the Pass/Fail Option is Friday, March 22, 2024.
13. The last day of classes is on Monday, April 29, 2024.
14. A reading day or class make-up day if needed is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
15. Another reading day is observed on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
16. URI Spring 2024 Final examinations take place from Thursday, May 2, to Friday, May 3, and from Monday, May 6, to Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
17. Spring 2024 Final grades are due in e-Campus by 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
18. URI Graduation 2024 and Commencement Ceremonies are held from Friday, May 17, to Sunday, May 19, 2024.
