FSU Academic Calendar 2024-2025: Important Dates

The FSU Academic Calendar is published once each semester, and it contains important dates for registration, fees, graduation, and other academic deadlines. 

The Florida State University Academic Calendar shows the semester’s beginning and ending dates, legal holidays, admission, readmission, non-degree, and short application deadlines for 2024-2025.

Florida State University operates on a semester system. The academic year is divided into two semesters: Fall semester, which typically starts in late August and ends in mid-December, and Spring semester, which typically starts in early January and ends in early May. There is also a summer session, which is divided into two shorter terms: Summer A and Summer B.

FSU Academic Calendar Fall 2024

Check out the important dates and deadlines on the FSU academic calendar for the Fall semester of 2024.

1. Registration for currently enrolled and readmitted degree-seeking students runs from March 4 to May 10, 2024.
2. The Wave or Elect portal opens for the 24/25 academic year on June 3, 2024.
3. Registration re-opens for currently enrolled and readmitted degree-seeking students from July 15 to August 29, 2024.
4. The last day for community college and FSU students to submit Fall 2024 transient applications is August 1, 2024.
5. August 15, 2024, is the last day to submit waivers or billings for Financial Aid Early Disbursement and the start of Fall Only/Annual Health Insurance coverage.
6. Residence Halls open at 9:00 a.m. on August 16, 2024. The FSU Fall 2024 move-in date is from Friday, August 16, 2024, to Sunday, August 25, 2024. Friday, August 16, 2024, is reserved for Sorority Recruitment. General move-in appointments will be available on August 17, August 18, and daily from August 21 to August 25, 2024. 7. Financial Aid Early Disbursement becomes available on August 21, 2024.
8. Drop/Add period, including the College of Law, is from August 24 to August 29, 2024.
9. FSU Fall 2024 classes start on August 26, 2024. It is the first day of classes.
10. Late Registration, with a $100.00 fee, is from August 26 to August 29, 2024.
11. The fourth day of classes is on August 29, 2024.
12. The fifth day of classes is on August 30, 2024.
13. Graduate students’ Last Day to request a change to or cancellation of Fall-Only or Annual Student Health Insurance is August 31, 2024.
14. The Labor Day holiday is on September 2, 2024, and no classes are scheduled.
15. The Fall 2024 Graduation Application Period is from September 3 to September 13, 2024.
16. The first day to apply for financial aid deferments and delayed-delivery loans is September 3, 2024.
17. For all students, the last day to pay or defer tuition, housing, or fees is September 6, 2024.
18. Undergraduate students’ Last Day to request a change to or cancellation of Fall-Only or Annual Student Health Insurance is September 15, 2024.
19. Non-payment-of-tuition schedule cancellations are processed for students without a tuition deferment on September 16, 2024.
20. Family Weekend is scheduled for September 20 to September 22, 2024.
21. According to the FSU academic calendar for spring 2025, the Spring 2025 Registration Guide will be available on September 23, 2024.
22. Open enrollment for Spring Health Insurance begins on October 1, 2024.
23. Financial Aid deferments expire, and the final payment deadline for two-payment instalment contracts is October 4, 2024.
24. Registration for Spring 2025 begins on October 7, 2024.
25. The end of the Seventh Week of the Term is on October 11, 2024, according to FSU academic calendar 2024-2025.
26. The Last Day to submit a doctoral dissertation or treatise for pre-defense format review is October 21, 2024.
27. The final payment deadline for students on a three-payment instalment plan is November 4, 2024.
28. The end of the Eleventh Week of the Term is on November 8, 2024.
29. Veterans’ day Observed, with no classes scheduled, is November 11, 2024.
30. The end of the Twelfth Week of the Term is November 15, 2024. With the dean’s permission, late drops are allowed until then.
31. November 18, 2024, is the last day for submitting the post-defence, final content-approved thesis, dissertation, or treatise and required forms.
32. FSU Homecoming Week 2024 runs from November 18 to November 24, 2024. Classes are not scheduled after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22.
33. FSU Thanksgiving Break 2024 is from November 27 to December 1, 2024.
34. December 1, 2024, is the last day for community college and FSU students to submit Spring 2025 transient applications, according to FSU academic calendar 2024-2025.
35. The final payment deadline for students on a four-payment instalment plan is December 4, 2024.
36. December 6, 2024, marks the last Day of Classes. It is also the last day to petition the academic dean for a reduction in course load, officially withdraw from the University, and apply for an AA Degree at the Office of Undergraduate Studies, UCA 3400. Veteran’s Deferments expire, and full tuition payment must be received to avoid a late payment fee, according to FSU academic calendar 2024-2025.
37. Fall 2024 Final Exam Week takes place from December 9 to December 13, 2024.
38. December 10, 2024, is the last day for thesis, dissertation, and treatise students to receive Official Final Clearance in the Manuscript Clearance Portal.
39. The Fall Term Ends on December 13, 2024. This is also the last day to submit extensions for incomplete (I) grades by 4:00 p.m. and to turn in ServScript hours online. Commencement ceremonies are held for Doctoral candidates at 9:00 a.m. and for Bachelor, Master, and Specialist candidates at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
40. Diplomas dated December 14, 2024, and Residence Halls close at noon that day.
41. Online Grades are due by 4:00 p.m. on December 17, 2024.
42. Grades are available online on December 18, 2024.

FSU academic calendar spring 2024

Check out the important dates and deadlines on the FSU academic calendar for the Spring semester of 2024.

1. The Spring 2024 Registration Guide is available on September 25, 2023.
2. Open enrollment for spring/summer health insurance begins during this period from October 9, 2023, to December 22, 2023, according to FSU academic calendar 2023-2024.
3. Community college and FSU students must submit their Spring 2024 transient applications by December 1, 2023.
4. New graduate students can register between December 11, 2023, and January 11, 2024.
5. The spring/summer health insurance begins on January 1, 2024.
6. Residence halls open at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. It is FSU Spring 2024 move in day.
7. Early disbursement of financial aid is available via EFT from January 5, 2024.
8. The Drop/Add period, including the College of Law, begins from January 6 to January 11, 2024, according to FSU academic calendar 2024.
9. The Spring 2024 term starts on January 8, 2024, and it’s the last day to file for a change in residency status.
10. Late registration with a $100.00 fee is available from January 8 to January 11, 2024.
11. January 11, 2024, marks the fourth day of the semester and the last day to add a class without the academic dean’s permission.
12. The fifth day of the semester, January 12, 2024, is the last day to submit waivers or billings and to request VA deferments from the VA representative in Student Veterans Affairs, according to FSU academic calendar 2024.
13. January 15, 2024, is the last day for open enrollment for spring/summer health insurance and the last day to request a change to or cancellation of the purchase of student health insurance coverage.
14. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day falls on January 15, 2024, with no classes and the university closed.
15. The Spring 2024 graduation application period is open from January 16 to January 26, 2024, and students can apply online at https://my.fsu.edu.
16. Students can apply for financial aid deferment and delayed delivery loans starting from January 17, 2024, according to FSU academic calendar 2024.
17. The tuition and fee payment deadline is January 19, 2024, and veterans should contact a VA representative with questions.
18. January 26, 2024, is the last day to apply for Spring 2024 graduation, and students can apply online at https://my.fsu.edu.
19. Non-payment-of-tuition scheduled cancellations are processed for students without a tuition deferment on January 29, 2024.
20. The end of the 7th week of the semester is marked on February 23, 2024, which is the deadline for various academic activities and financial obligations.
21. Fall and Summer 2024 Registration Guides become available on February 26, 2024, along with the course listings on the Course Lookup system.
22. The registration period for Summer and Fall 2024 begins on March 4, 2024, with non-payment-of-tuition schedule cancellations processed for students with expired deferments.
23. Residence halls close for Spring Break on March 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
24. FSU Spring Break 2024 is from March 11, 2024, to March 15, 2024. The Florida State University observes Spring Break from March 11, 2024, to March 15, 2024, with no classes and the university remaining open. Residence halls open after the FSU Spring Break on March 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.
25. March 18, 2024, is the last day to submit a doctoral dissertation or treatise for pre-defense format review.
26. March 25, 2024, is the last day to submit a master’s thesis for pre-defense format review, according to FSU academic calendar 2023-2024.
27. The 11th week of the semester ends on March 29, 2024, and it is the deadline for FAMU-FSU College of Engineering late drop with the dean’s permission.
28. The 12th week of the semester ends on April 5, 2024, and it is the deadline for late drop with the dean’s permission for all colleges except Engineering.
29. April 8, 2024, is the last day to submit post-defense, final-content-approved thesis, dissertation, or treatise and required forms.
30. April 26, 2024, marks the last Day of Classes and the last day to petition the academic dean for a reduction in the course load.
31. April 30, 2024, is the last day for thesis, dissertation, and treatise students to receive official final clearance in the manuscript clearance portal.
32. Spring 2024 Final Exam Week is from April 29 to May 3, 2024.
33. The term ends on May 3, 2024, and it is the last day to submit extensions for ‘incomplete’ grades and ServScript hours online by 4:00 p.m.
34. Residence halls close at 12:00 p.m. on May 4, 2024. FSU Spring 2024 commencement occurs at the Civic Center on May 4, 2024.
35. Diplomas are dated May 4, 2024, and the residence halls close at noon.
36. Panama City Commencement occurs on May 5, 2024, with the time and location to be announced.
37. Online grades are due by 4:00 p.m. on May 7, 2024. Grades become available online on May 8, 2024, according to FSU academic calendar 2023-2024.
38. The summer-only health insurance plan coverage begins on May 10, 2024, for new summer admits only.
