Adelphi Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

The Adelphi Academic Calendar 2023-2024 provides all relevant holidays, breaks, commencement, semester start/end dates, course registration, and withdrawal dates.

Adelphi University uses a semester system. This means the academic year is divided into Fall and Spring semesters. Each semester is typically 15 weeks long. There is also a Summer semester, shorter than the Fall and Spring semesters.

1. Open planning begins for Summer and Fall 2023 on March 6, 2023.
2. Graduate registration begins for Fall 2023 on March 29, 2023.
3. Undergraduate registration begins for Fall 2023 on March 31, 2023.
4. New Student Orientation and Welcome Weekend is from Friday, August 25, 2023, to Sunday, August 27, 2023.
5. Adelphi Fall 2023 Matriculation Ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, at the Center for Recreation & Sports. At the Matriculation Ceremony, all new students are welcomed to the Adelphi community by faculty and the University’s leadership.
6. Adelphi University fall 2023 classes start on Monday, August 28, 2023. It is Adelphi’s first day of classes for Fall 2023. 
7. The official Summer Graduation Date is Wednesday, August 31, 2023.
8. Labor Day break is from Saturday, September 2, 2023, to Monday, September 4, 2023. There are no classes.
9. The last day to add an independent study/internship is Monday, September 11, 2023.
10. The last day to change the course grading option is Monday, September 11, 2023.
11. The last day to process a section change is Monday, September 11, 2023, according to Adelphi academic calendar 2023-2024.
12. The last day to add a course is Monday, September 11, 2023.
13. The last day to drop a course is Monday, September 11, 2023.
14. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is Monday, October 9, 2023.
15. Election Day is Tuesday, November 7, 2023. There are no classes.
16. Adelphi Thanksgiving Break 2023 is from Wednesday, November 22, 2023, to Sunday, November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023, after Adelphi University Thanksgiving break.
17. The last day to withdraw is Monday, November 27, 2023
18. The last day of classes is Monday, December 11, 2023, according to the Adelphi academic calendar fall 2023.
19. Makeup/Study Day is on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, and Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
20. Adelphi fall 2023 final exams are from Thursday, December 14, 2023, to Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
21. Adelphi Winter Break 2023 is from Thursday, December 21, 2023, to Monday, January 22, 2024.

Adelphi move in day 2023

Adelphi Move-in day for fall 2023 is Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.

For First-Year Students, mark your calendars for Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Incoming residential students will be welcomed to the residence halls before Welcome Weekend and the start of Fall classes. It’s your special day to check into the Residence Halls and begin this transformative experience.

Returning Students, your Move-in Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Get ready to reconnect with friends and create new memories on campus.

During check-in, Adelphi University Resident Assistants will welcome you and provide guidance. Look for them in the lounge or entrance of your residence hall. They’ll gladly show you to your room, assist with paperwork, and ensure you receive your keys or room access via a swipe card.

If you cannot check in on the specified dates and times, don’t hesitate to contact your residence hall’s Assistant Director to schedule an alternative check-in time. Please note that a fee may be assessed for early arrivals.

8. Martin Luther King Jr Birthday holiday is Monday, January 15, 2024. There are no classes.
9. Adelphi Winter classes 2024 end on Monday, January 22, 2024. It is the last day of classes for the Winter Intersession.
10. Adelphi Spring 2024 classes start on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. It is the first day of classes for the Spring 2024 semester.

This Adelphi calendar does not apply to Adelphi International (AUI) General English Language, Special Sessions courses, or online programs for Sport Management, Nutrition, Health Informatics, Social Sciences, or other College of Professional and Continuing Studies programs.
