The MSOE academic calendar 2023-2024 contains important dates such as semester start and end dates, holidays, finals week, welcome week, and registration deadlines.
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is transitioning from a quarter-based academic calendar to a semester model in fall 2023.
The University plans to implement a semester-based calendar at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Milwaukee School of Engineering will transition from an 11-week, quarter-based academic calendar (10 weeks instruction + 1 finals week) to a 16-week (15 weeks instruction + 1 finals week) semester model beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
So, instead of three 10-week quarters, MSOE will transition to two 15-week semesters.
Each semester will conclude with a final exam week. There will no longer be a winter quarter interrupted by the holiday break.

- ROAR Days (Raider Orientation, Advising, and Registration) are on Thursday, July 13, 2023, and Friday, July 14, 2023. ROAR Days are for all incoming MSOE first-year students. The day concerns the people, places, and programs that will become your new academic home. At ROAR, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and connections to turn you into the master of MSOE.
- MSOE Welcome Week 2023 is on Thursday, August 24, 2023.
- MSOE move-in day 2023 is from Thursday, August 24, 2023, to Sunday, August 20, 2023.
- MSOE fall 2023 classes start on Monday, August 28, 2023. It is the first day of classes for Fall 2023.
- Student Organization Fair is on Friday, September 1, 2023.
- Labor Day holiday is Monday, September 4, 2023. There are no classes.
- The 2023 Wisconsin Actuarial Collegiate Conference (WACC) Career Fair is on Friday, September 22, 2023.
- Resume Raid is on Monday, September 25, 2023, and Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
- MSOE Fall 2023 Career Fair is on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and Thursday, September 28, 2023.
- MSOE Thanksgiving break 2023 is from Wednesday, November 22, 2023, to Sunday, November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
- MSOE Fall 2023 exams (Finals week) are from December 11, 2023, to December 15, 2023.
- The Fall 2023 semester ends on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 5 p.m.
- The Milwaukee School of Engineering graduation or Commencement exercises are on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
- MSOE Winter Break 2023 is from Sunday, December 17, 2023, to Monday, January 15, 2024.
MSOE Move-in Day 2023
MSOE move-in day for fall 2023 is from Thursday, August 24, 2023, to Sunday, August 20, 2023.
For new students, the fall 2023 move-in begins on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Returning students’ move-in is on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
MSOE Carter Academy moves in on Thursday, July 22, 2023. Early drop-off will occur between Friday, August 18, 2023, and Sunday, August 20, 2023, according to the MSOE academic calendar.
Additional information will be shared via e-mail after July 17, 2023. Students should check their MSOE e-mail address regularly for updates and information.
MSOE offers single-gender or co-ed floors in their traditional residence halls (Herman Viets Tower, Margaret Loock Residence Hall), gender-inclusive, suite-style housing (Regents Residence Hall), and apartment-style housing (Grohmann Tower).
Nearly all first-year and second-year students live on campus in the residence halls. All unmarried first-year and second-year students under 21 live in one of the residence halls unless their primary residence is within 30 miles of campus.
Students completing their residency requirement receive the unlimited meal plan. You can check your current room and meal plan information on your myMSOE student page.

- Spring 2024 Finals week is from May 6, 2024, to May 10, 2024.
- Spring 2024 semester ends on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
- MSOE Commencement exercises are on Saturday, May 11, 2024
