SCAD Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

The SCAD academic calendar is based on a quarter system (fall, winter, spring and summer). A quarter at SCAD University is 10 weeks long. It’s essential to become familiar with quarter start and end dates, holiday schedules, and registration dates.

SCAD academic calendar fall 2023

Below is the SCAD fall 2023 schedules as stated on the SCAD academic calendar 2023-2024.

1. SCAD Fall 2023 registration begins on April 24, 2023. SCADnow online registration begins on the same day.
2. Graduate registration begins on April 26, 2023.
3. Senior registration begins on April 27, 2023.
4. Junior registration begins on May 3, 2023.
5. Sophomore registration begins on May 10, 2023.
6. First-year student registration begins on May 17, 2023.
7. Fall 2023 Orientation for new students (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) is from September 7, 2023, to September 9, 2023.
8. SCAD Fall quarter 2023 starts for SCAD Atlanta, Savannah, and SCADnow online on September 11, 2023. It is the first day of classes for SCAD Atlanta, SCAD Savannah, and SCADnow online students.
9. Drop/add period for SCAD Atlanta, Savannah, and SCADnow online is from September 11, 2023, to September 15, 2023.
10. Student check-in (Lacoste) is on September 15, 2023.
11. The fall quarter 2023 begins for SCAD Lacoste on September 18, 2023. It is the first day of classes for SCAD Lacoste students.
12. The drop/add period for SCAD Lacoste is from September 18, 2023, to September 19, 2023.
13. The midterm week begins for all SCAD locations on October 9, 2023.
14. SCAD Lacoste Fall quarter 2023 ends on November 10, 2023.
15. Fall quarter ends SCAD Atlanta, Savannah, and SCADnow online on November 16, 2023.

1. Graduate registration begins for spring 2023 on February 8, 2023.
2. Senior registration begins on February 9, 2023.
3. Junior registration begins on February 15, 2023.
4. Sophomore registration begins on February 22, 2023.
5. SCAD First-year student registration begins on March 1, 2023.
6. Spring 2023 Orientation for new students (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) begins on March 24, 2023.
7. SCAD Spring quarter 2023 starts (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) on March 27, 2023.
8. The drop/add period (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) is from March 27, 2023, to March 31, 2023.
9. Student check-in (Lacoste) is on March 31, 2023.
10. Spring quarter begins for SCAD Lacoste on April 3, 2023.
11. Lacoste’s drop/add period is April 3, 2023, to April 4, 2023.
12. Advising for Fall 2023 begins on April 10, 2023, according to the SCAD academic calendar 2023-2024.
13. The midterm week begins (in all locations) on April 24, 2023.
14. Spring quarter ends for Lacoste on May 26, 2023.
15. Spring quarter ends (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) on June 1, 2023.
16. Commencement (SCAD graduation 2023) is on June 2, 2023, and June 3, 2023.

SCAD spring break 2023

SCAD Spring break 2023 is from March 17, 2023 to March 23, 2023. Residence halls close for the winter quarter at 5 p.m. for students not returning for the spring quarter and reopen for new students on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Spring 2023 Orientation for new students (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) begins on March 24, 2023. Note: SCAD University does not officially have a spring break on the Scad academic calendar. The period between the last day of the Winter quarter and the beginning of Spring quarter is assumed SCAD spring break.

1. Orientation for new students (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) begins on June 16, 2023.
2. Juneteenth holiday (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) on June 19, 2023.
3. Summer quarter begins (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) on June 20, 2023.
4. Drop/add period (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) is June 20 – June 26, 2023.
5. Student check-in for Scad Lacoste is June 23, 2023.
6. Juneteenth makeup day (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) is June 23, 2023.
7. Summer quarter begins for Scad Lacoste on June 26, 2023.
8. Drop/add period (Lacoste) is June 26 – June 27, 2023.
9. Independence Day holiday (all locations) is July 4, 2023.
10. Independence Day makeup day (all locations) is July 7, 2023.
11. Midterm week begins (all locations) on July 17, 2023.
12. The first five-week session ends on July 20, 2023.
13. The second five-week session begins on July 24, 2023.
14. Drop/add for second five-week session (all locations) is on July 24 – July 28, 2023.
15. Summer quarter ends for Scad Lacoste on August 18, 2023.
16. Summer quarter ends (Atlanta, Savannah, SCADnow online) on August 24, 2023.
