TTU Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

TTU academic calendar 2023-2024 has enrolment dates, registration dates, exam schedules, holidays, drop/add dates, move-in days, other important dates and deadlines.

Texas Tech University is on a semester system. 4-year+ college. TTU offer undergraduate programs leading toward a Bachelor’s degree that typically take around four years to complete.

A full-time undergraduate student at Texas Tech is a student that is enrolled in courses totalling 12 or more credit hours per semester. A full-time graduate student is enrolled in nine or more credit hours per semester.

Below are important dates and deadlines on the TTU academic calendar for Fall, Spring and Summer.

TTU academic calendar fall 2023

These are the important dates and deadline on the TTU academic calendar for fall 2023.

1. The first day for fall 2023 advance registration for currently enrolled students (continues through April 17) is Monday, April 3, 2023, to Monday, April 17, 2023.
2. Open registration for fall 2023 begins on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
3. TTU Fall move in day 2023 is on Sunday, August 13 2023 from 10:00 a.m. Residence halls are open for occupancy (Fall Move In). Select Hospitality Services dining locations open for service (Hospitality).
4. 95% payment of mandatory tuition and fees or enrollment in a payment plan due for fall on Monday, August 21, 2023. Registrations after this date require immediate payment or enrollment in a payment plan.
5. TTU Fall 2023 classes start on Thursday, August 24, 2023 (Texas Tech fall 2023 start date). It is TTU’s first day of classes for fall 2023. All Hospitality Services dining locations open for service (Hospitality).
6. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 is the last day for student-initiated addition of a course on MyTech. Courses may be added through September 11 with advisor and instructor permission.
7. Labor Day holiday is Monday, September 4, 2023. Limited dining locations available (Hospitality).
8. Friday, September 8, 2023 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to file with the Graduate School an application to graduate.
9. On the TTU academic calendar, Monday, September 11, 2023 is the;
   • Last day for student-initiated drop on MyTech without academic penalty (drop does not count against drop limit). All drops are the responsibility of the student.
   • Last day to drop a course and have course charges removed. Students who wish to drop to 0 hours must submit a withdrawal request online at (Withdrawal Information). Financial penalties apply for withdrawals after September 11.
   • Last day to withdraw from the university without financial penalty. 
   • Last day to change a major and/or transfer between colleges for current term.
10. Student-initiated drop is made on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 or after this date counts against drop limit. All drops are the responsibility of the student.
11. Thursday, September 21, 2023 is the last day to withdraw from the university and receive partial financial credit.
12. The last day to withdraw from the university and receive pro-rated Housing and Dining Plan refund is Thursday, September 21, 2023.
13. Thursday, September 21, 2023 is the last day to change on-campus Dining Plan level for the fall semester (Hospitality).
14. Wednesday, September 27, 2023 is the last day for doctoral and master’s thesis students to submit the Thesis-Dissertation Defense Notification form.
15. Midterm grading opens on Thursday, October 12, 2023 according to the TTU academic calendar 2023-2024.
16. Wednesday, October 25, 2023 is the last day for degree candidates and faculty to order invitations and academic regalia at the bookstore.
17. Midterm grades are due via TTU Raiderlink on Thursday October 26, 2023 by 5:00 p.m.
18. Friday, October 27, 2023 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to defend theses/dissertations.
19. The last day for master’s non-thesis degree candidates to complete the comprehensive evaluation is Friday, October 27, 2023.
20. Friday, November 3, 2023 is last day for graduate degree candidates to submit to the ETD website the final PDF of thesis/dissertation.
21. The last day for graduate degree candidates to submit the Oral Defense and Thesis-Dissertation Approval Form is Friday, November 3, 2023.
22. Friday, November 3, 2023 is the last day for M.M. and D.M.A. candidates to post the PDFs of recital programs to the ETD website and submit recordings of recitals to the Graduate School according to the TTU academic calendar 2023-2024.
23. Monday, November 13, 2023 is the last day to remove grades of I, PR, or CR in the Graduate School. This does not apply to the PR/CR received on a previous thesis or dissertation enrollment.
24. Official reports are due to Graduate School on Interdisciplinary Portfolio for the master’s degree (non-thesis students) is Monday, November 13, 2023 according to the TTU academic calendar.
25. Official reports are due to Graduate School on results of final comprehensive evaluations Monday, November 13, 2023.
26. Monday, November 13, 2023 is the last day for graduate degree candidates to pay thesis-dissertation fee posted to Banner account.
27. Monday, November 20, 2023 is the last day for student-initiated drop on MyTech with academic penalty (counts against drop limit). All drops are the responsibility of the student according to the TTU academic calendar.
28. Monday, November 20, 2023 is the last day to withdraw from the university. Although withdrawal can be processed until this date, all tuition and fees related to the registration are due in full and no refunds will be issued.
29. The last day to declare pass/fail intentions is Monday, November 20, 2023.
30. TTU Thanksgiving break 2023 is from Wednesday, November 22, 2023, to Sunday, November 26, 2023. No meals available at any Hospitality Services location Thursday, November 23 to Sunday, November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023, after Texas Tech Thanksgiving break.
31. From Thursday, November 30 to Wednesday, December 6, 2023 is the period of no examinations except for makeup exams or scheduled lab exams according to the TTU academic calendar 2023-2024.
32. TTU Carol of Lights 2023 is on Friday, December 1, 2023.
33. Raiderlink is available for grading on Monday, December 4, 2023. Degree candidate grades are due at noon December 13).
34. The last day of classes for Fall 2023 semester is Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
35. Individual study day is Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Late night pancakes available for residents living on campus.
36. TTU Fall 2023 Final examination dates are Thursday, December 7, 2023 to Tuesday, December 12, 2023. There are no exams on Sunday, December 10. 
37. Fall semester ends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
38. Texas Tech Fall 2023 Move Out date is Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Graduating residents, with prior approval, must move out by Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
39. Wednesday, December 13, 2023 is the last day for most dining locations.
40. Noon, grades are due on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 for graduating students via Raiderlink.
41. Residence halls close on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m according to the TTU academic calendar. Degree candidates may occupy residence hall rooms until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 (Winter Break Housing).
42. TTU winter break 2023 is from Wednesday, December 13, 2023 to Sunday, January 7, 2024.
43. TTU Commencement or graduation 2023 dates are Friday, December 15, 2023, and Saturday, December 16, 2023. The Schedule of ceremonies can be found on the TTU Commencement website. Degree candidates may occupy residence hall rooms until 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
44. Fall 2023 final grades are due via Raiderlink on Monday, December 18, 2023 by 5:00 p.m.

TTU academic calendar spring 2024

These are the important dates and deadline on the TTU academic calendar for spring 2024.

1. TTU Spring 2024 Classes start on January 8, 2024.
2. The last day for student-initiated addition of a course on the MyTech tab of Raiderlink or in person with the Registrar’s Office is January 12, 2024.
3. Martin Luther King Day is observed on January 15, 2024, as a University holiday.
4. The last day for student-initiated drop of a course on the MyTech tab of Raiderlink or in person in the Registrar’s Office, with a 100% refund, is January 24, 2024.
5. January 24, 2024, is also the last day to withdraw from TTU School of Law for a 100% refund.
6. The Texas Bar Examination timely postmark deadline with the Texas Board of Law Examiners for the July Bar examination is on February 1, 2024 (https://ble.texas.gov).
7. The last day to drop a course with permission and receive a grade of W for a 50% refund is February 5, 2024, with no refund thereafter.
8. February 5, 2024, is also the last day to withdraw from TTU School of Law for a 50% refund, with no refund thereafter.
9. The last day to drop a course and receive an automatic W is February 19, 2024.
10. The February Texas Bar Exam takes place on February 27, to February 28, 2024.
11. TTU Spring Break 2024 is scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2024, to Friday, March 15, 2024.
12. April 1, 2024, is the last day for December law degree candidates to file with the Law School a Statement of Intent to Graduate. It is also a day with no classes.
13. The last day of classes is on April 25, 2024.
14. A reading day is observed on April 26, 2024.
15. TTU Spring 2024 Final exams are scheduled from April 29 to May 10, 2024.
16. The TTU Graduate School Commencement for Dual-Degree Students is on May 10, 2024.
17. A Hooding Ceremony is scheduled for May 11, 2024.
