UNH Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

The UNH Academic Calendar lists key dates for each semester, including breaks, holidays, exam schedules, add/drop dates, other important dates, and deadlines.

The University of New Hampshire utilizes the semester system made of Fall, Spring and Summer. There is also UNH J-term (January Term) that runs for 3 weeks in January.

During this time you can earn up to 4 credits toward your degree. You can take courses online or on-campus, or you can opt to study abroad.

To be eligible for graduation from the University of New Hampshire, a student must obtain a passing grade in a minimum of 128 semester hours; for associate degree graduation, 64 semester hours.

UNH academic calendar fall 2023

1. Fall 2023 registration re-opens for undergraduate students from July 5, 2023.
2. Fall 2023 registration begins for Continuing Ed/non-degree students from July 12, 2023.
3. UNH move in day 2023 is from August 25, 2023 to August 27, 2023. First-year students move-in day is August 25, 2023. Returning student move-in day is on August 26, 2023 and August 27, 2023.
4. UNH Fall 2023 classes start on August 28, 2023. It is the first day of classes for UNH students in the Fall 2023 semester.
5. UNH September Graduation date is September 1, 2023. There is no ceremony.
6. Labor Day Holiday is September 4, 2023, according to UNH calendar holidays 2023. UNH is closed and there are no classes.
7. Fall 2023 Webcat registration ends on September 8, 2023 at 4:30 PM.
8. UNH Family Weekend 2023 is on September 30, 2023, and October 1, 2023.
9. UNH fall break 2023 (Mid-semester break) is on October 9, 2023. There are no classes. UNH Mid-semester break is just one day long.
10. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is October 9, 2023.
11. UNH Mid-semester is October 13, 2023.
12. UNH Homecoming Weekend 2023 is from October 14, 2023 to October 15, 2023.
13. Veterans Day holiday is November 10, 2023. UNH is closed.
14. UNH Thanksgiving break 2023 is from November 22, 2023 to November 26, 2023. Classes resume on November 27, 2023.
15. UNH Fall 2023 semester classes end on December 11, 2023.
16. Durham reading day is December 12, 2023.
17. UNH Durham – Fall 2023 Final Exams begin at 6:00 pm on December 12, 2023 to December 19, 2023.
18. UNH winter break 2023 is from December 20, 2023 to January 22, 2024. UNH winter break is one month long.
19. UNH December Graduation date – no ceremony is December 31, 2023.

1. UNH Spring 2024 Full Semester Classes and Term 3 Classes begin on January 23, 2024.
2. Mid-Semester is on March 8, 2024.
3. Term 3’s Last Day of Classes is on March 15, 2024.
4. UNH Spring Break 2024 is observed from March 18 to March 22, 2024.
5. Full Semester Classes resume after Spring break, and Term 4 Classes begin on March 25, 2024.
6. The Full Semester’s Last Day of Classes is on May 6, 2024.
7. May 7, 2024, is designated as Reading Day or Curtailed Operation Make-up Day.
8. Reading Day is on May 8, 2024.
9. Final exams begin on May 9, 2024.
10. Final exams end on May 15, 2024.
11. Term 4’s Last Day of Classes is on May 17, 2024.
12. UNH Commencement 2024 is scheduled for May 18, 2024.
