WVU Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates

WVU academic calendar 2023-2024 has important dates, schedules, and deadlines for Fall, Spring, and Summer. West Virginia University has 16 weeks of instruction in Fall, 8 weeks in Spring and 12 weeks in the Summer semester. WVU’s pre-summer, known as MayMester, is a fully online, 3-week accelerated learning option.

WVU academic calendar fall 2023

1. WVU move-in for Fall 2023 is scheduled for Saturday, August 12, 2023 to Tuesday, August 15, 2023. New Resident Move-In is on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 12 pm to 5 pm. New Resident Move-In is on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 8 am to 12 pm. Returning Resident Move-In is on Monday, August 14, 2023, and Tuesday, August 15, 2023, from 8 am to 5 pm.
2. General Registration date for Fall 2023 is Monday, August 14, 2023. Check out WVU Portal.
3. WVU fall 2023 classes start on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. It is the First Day of Classes.
4. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 is the last day to Register, Add New Courses, Make Section Changes, Change Pass/Fail and Audit.
5. Labor Day holiday is Monday, September 4, 2023. There are no classes.
6. Mid-Check Grades are due on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 by noon.
7. WVU Fall Break 2023 is Thursday, October 5, 2023 and Friday, October 6, 2023.
8. Tuesday, November 14, 2023 is the last day to Drop a Class and the Last Day to Withdraw from the University.
9. WVU Thanksgiving break 2023 is from Saturday, November 18, 2023 to Sunday, November 26, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023, after the West Virginia University Thanksgiving break. WVU Housing Closes on Saturday, November 18 at 12noon and opens on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 8am.
10. The last day of classes for Fall 2023 is Thursday, December 7, 2023.
11. Prep Day for Finals is Friday, December 8, 2023.
12. Final Exams is from Monday, December 11, 2023 to Friday, December 15, 2023.
13. WVU fall 2023 Commencement/graduation is on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
14. WVU Winter break 2023 is from Saturday, December 16, 2023 to Sunday, January 7, 2024. WVU Housing Closes for winter break on Saturday, December 16, 2023 by 12noon.

1. General Registration date for Spring 2024 is on Friday, January 5, 2024.
2. WVU Spring 2024 On-Campus First Day of Classes is Monday, January 8, 2024. Spring classes start.
3. Friday, January 12, 2024 is the last day to Register, Add New Courses, Make Section Changes, Change Pass/Fail and Audit.
4. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday is Monday, January 15, 2024.
5. Mid–Check Grades are due on Friday, March 1, 2024.
6. WVU Spring break 2024 is from March 9, 2024 to March 17, 2024.
7. Spring Holiday is March 29 2024.
8. April 12, 2024 is the last day to Drop a Class and the Last Day to Withdraw from the University.
9. April 26, 2024 is the last day of classes for Spring 2024.
10. Final Exams period is from April 29, 2024 to May 3, 2024.
11. WVU Commencement/graduation 2024 is from May 10, 2024 to May 12, 2024.

WVU academic calendar summer 2024

Here are the important dates and deadlines on the WVU academic calendar for Summer 2024.

1. From May 6 to May 24, there will be the Summer 2024 Maymester.
2. Registration will take place on May 13.
3. The on-campus first day of classes is also on May 13.
4. There will be a Memorial Day Recess from May 27, and the University will remain closed.
5. Final exams for the first six-week session will be held on June 21.
6. There will be an Independence Day Recess on July 4, and the University will remain closed.
7. The final exams for the second six-week session and the 12-week session are scheduled for August 2.
8. August 9 is the Degree Conferring Date, although there won’t be any ceremonies on this day.
