UA Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates & Deadlines

UA academic calendar 2023-2024 has the schedules, events, important dates, and deadlines for the University of Alabama students. The University of Alabama operates a semester system, which includes fall, spring, and summer terms. Each semester is about 14-16 weeks long.

Below are the events, schedules, important dates, and deadlines on the UA academic calendar for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.

1. UA Fall 2023 registration begins from March 27, 2023.
2. The University of Alabama, UA move-in day fall 2023 is from Friday, August 18, 2023 to Sunday, August 20, 2023. Move-In times may vary by residence hall. Bryant Hall residents may not move in until Saturday, August 19, 2023, according to the UA academic calendar 2023-2024.
3. UA Fall 2023 classes start for Full Term on August 23, 2023. The University of Alabama Fall start date.
4. August 30, 2023 is the last day to Add a Course or Drop Course Without a Grade of “W” for the Fall Full Term.
5. Registration begins for Fall 2 on August 31, 2023.
6. Labor Day holiday (UA closed) is September 4, 2023. There are no classes.
7. Classes begin for Fall 2 on September 25, 2023.
8. October 11, 2023 is the Midterm Grade Entry Deadline (11:59 p.m.). Midterm grades are due tonight at 11:59 p.m. Instructors are required to submit midterm grades for all 100- and 200-level courses.
9. UA Fall break 2023 (Mid semester break) is from October 26, 2023 to October 27, 2023. There are no classes.
10. November 1, 2023 is the last day to Drop a Course with a Grade of “W” for the Fall Full Term. This is a student’s last opportunity to drop a course, and drops after this date must be approved and processed by the student’s college.
11. The University of Alabama, UA Thanksgiving break 2023 is November 20, 2023 to November 26, 2023. UA offices are closed from November 23 to November 24, 2023. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2023.
12. The last day to Withdraw from the Fall Full/Fall 2 Terms is December 8, 2023. This is the last day students have to withdraw from the term (all classes) without requiring approval from the student’s college Dean’s office. Withdrawals from Nursing and Law require approval from the respective Dean’s office according to UA academic calendar 2023-2024.
13. Classes End for Full Term and Fall 2 on December 8, 2023.
14. UA fall 2023 final exams are from Monday, December 11, 2023 to Friday, December 15, 2023.  
15. Fall Commencement/graduation 2023 is on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
16. UA Winter break 2023 is from Monday, December 18, 2023 to Tuesday, January 9, 2024. UA Offices Resume Normal Business Hours on January 3, 2024.
17. December 19, 2023 is the Final Grade Entry Deadline (11:59 p.m.). Any missing grades as of the 11:59 p.m. deadline will result in grades of “N” being assigned as placeholders.

1. The degree application in myBama becomes available for Graduate and undergraduate students on June 5, 2023.
2. Spring 2024 registration begins on October 30, 2023, with registration time assignments available.
3. Spring 2024 bills become available on November 15, 2023, along with the opening of Student Account Payment Plans, including 4x Payment Plan, VA Payment Plan, and Medical School Payment Plan options.
4. The Student Account Payment 4x Payment Plan closes on November 30, 2023.
5. The Student Account Payment 3x Payment Plan option opens on December 1, 2023.
6. The Spring 2024 bill is due at noon on December 11, 2023, requiring payment in full or participation in a payment plan.
7. Late enrollment bills for Spring 2024 become available on December 15, 2023.
8. Winter Interim classes begin on December 18, 2023, and the last day to receive in-person or mailed payments for inclusion on the 2023 1098-T (tuition tax statement) is on December 21, 2023.
9. Web payments for inclusion on the 2023 1098-T (tuition tax statement) must be received by December 31, 2023.
10. Financial Aid Disbursements for Law/LLM students begin on January 2, 2024.
11. UA offices resume normal business hours on January 3, 2024.
12. Financial Aid Disbursements for Full Spring 2024 commence on January 4, 2024.
13. Winter Interim classes end on January 5, 2024.
14. UA Spring 2024 Full Term and Spring 2 classes start on January 10, 2024, along with the Spring 2024 bill due at noon, requiring payment in full or participation in a payment plan.
15. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed on January 15, 2024, with the university closed.
16. Registration for Spring 2 begins on January 18, 2024.
17. Student Account Payment Plans, including 3x Payment Plan, VA Payment Plan, and Medical School Payment Plan options, close on January 19, 2024.
18. The last day to add a course or drop a course without a grade of “W” for Spring Full Term is January 17, 2024.
19. The last day to drop a Monday-Only For-Credit Course without a grade of “W” for Spring Full Term is January 23, 2024.
20. Classes for Spring 2 begin on February 12, 2024.
21. The degree application deadline is February 23, 2024. Late applications, with college approval, are subject to a $25 non-refundable late fee.
22. The Midterm Grade Entry Deadline is March 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
23. UA Spring Break 2024 is from March 8 to March 17, 2024. Classes resume on Monday, March 18, 2024, after the University of Alabama spring break 2024.
24. The last day to drop a course with a grade of “W” for Spring Full Term is March 27, 2024.
25. Honors Week is observed from April 1 to April 5, 2024, with Honors Day on April 5 (UA offices open).
26. The last day for all examinations and extended assignments is April 19, 2024.
27. The last day to withdraw from the Spring Full/Spring 2 Terms is April 26, 2024, which is also the end of classes for Full Term and Spring 2.
28. UA Spring 2024 final exams are from Monday, April 29, 2024, to Friday, May 3, 2024.
29. UA Spring 2024 Final Grade Entry Deadline is May 7, 2024, by 11:59 p.m.
