The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is on a semester system made up of Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Each semester consists of fifteen (15) weeks of academic activities.
At MTSU, a minimum of 12 hours per semester is required to remain a full-time student. The maximum enrollment is 18 hours per semester.
A reasonable class load is between 15 and 18 hours, but strong consideration should be taken under advisement for travel time, job, and family commitments.

- MTSU Thanksgiving Break 2023 is from November 22 to November 25, 2023.
- The last Day of Classes for the Fall Semester is December 6, 2023.
- Study Day, No Classes/Exams/Mandatory Meetings on December 7, 2023.
- Fall 2023 Final Exams, as Determined by University Approved Exam, are scheduled from December 8 to December 14, 2023.
- The last day of Term for the Fall Semester is on December 14, 2023.
- MTSU winter break 2023 is from December 15, 2023, to January 15, 2024.
- Commencement, the Official Fall Graduation Date is December 16, 2023.
- The deadline for Submission of Final Grades is December 17, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.
